i have nothing at the moment. only just starting out and know nothing apart from keeping goldfish as a kid. i would like to have plants and fish but for what i have read so far is very difficult to keep a tank. is this right and do i have to get all the equipment i have read about?

hi greenleaf. have you any idea what or how to set up any kind of tank? have you read or searched for any information on fish keeping or planted tanks? although it is a realativly easy hobby its not without its problems.i suggest you do some reading first before you spend your cash and end up disheartend. i will post some reading for you.

Got to agree with mralgae there. It is quite easy an hobby, But there is alot of background learning to do, to get to that stage. i have been in this hobby for over a couple of years now and still learning new things every day. I now consider myself a fairly competent fish-keeper. When i first started trying to grow plants in my tanks they would all eventually die on me. but with time, alot of learning and help from others more experienced than me, i can now keep the plants alive. I'm now just starting my first small dedicated planted tank as a learning experience so i can move on to a larger display planted tank in the future. If i where u i would start off with a small tank and slowly build up your knowledge to get that big planted display tank.
