August 25: took large male and plump female moved them into my 50 gallon tank spliter keeps them away from convicts. water level reduced to 6in. conditoning on frozen brine shrimp, frozen blood worms, and tubflix worms. put some floating plants in to hold bubble nest togther.

Should you not put the female in the tank first to get her conditioned. perhaps a week or two before the male. If the female is not conditioned and ready for breeding before hand, the frisky male gets frustrated because he isn't getting any and will start to bully the female and beat up on her. Also Its hard to get perfectly still conditions in a aquarium I found that bubble nests just fall apart without some kind of protection. Putting in a halfed polystrene cup makes a perfect place for the male to build his bubble nest. Hope this helps

Could u do a log for your convicts instead? I haven't bred mouth-brooders, so I'd love to hear how you get on with them. What are u going to feed the fry?

well im sorry mate but convicts like most americans lay eggs then protect them but ill be sure to make one.
