hi all
I have recently moved my setup slightly and desided to raise the back of the tank substrate and create a raised bed type situation using a long piece of slate to hold back the gravel, Genrally before this the back gravel was around the 6cm depth which consists of a layer at the bottom of laterite, then on top around 5cm - 6cm of inert 2mm grade gravel mixed with laterite,
After this i decided to raise the bed so bought more gravel, which added another 6 cm of depth just at the back so in total 12cm, i tried to mix some of the old gravel with the new gravel so some of laterite mixed in with the new layer, however not sure much got mixed in.
My question is is this depth to deep and also should i buy some more laterite and mix it in with the new gravel on the top 6cm surfice if so whats the best way to do this baring in mind I haven't planted yet.
any advice would be good.
thanks
