So I've allways wanted a bigger tank (everything is bigger in Texas) and I just got my wish a new 55gal. I did want to go salt, but after seeing all the SUPER COOL TANKS HERE AT PLANTED TANKS, I'VE BEEN INSPIRED TO STAY FRESH!! So at this point I want to know EVERYTHING about geting plants into my tank. ie: what kind of substrate should I have? what is the name of that plant that is short and covers the whole floor of the tank (in the pictures here at the home page) and Does the fact that I have well water make a difference when it comes to growing and decorating my new tank with plants? But the more I read the more I find out that I know nothing. Ya know I allways thought that only salt water tanks cycled, so all this time I've NEVER checked my Ph, nitrates, nitrites, or amonia! :-/ At this piont I have a few fish in the tank, some I like and some I don't. They are as follows: 5 Tiger barbs (I like them) 5 red eye tetras (I don't like them because they won't school) 1 grami (I like him but a little nippy) and my MOST FAV. FISH the freshwater puffer (SO pretty) and I'm looking to buy a african buterfly fish and a Dragon Goby. I really hope all these fish will get allong (except the red eye tetras that I hope will be feeders) in my new tank. I'll take any advice ya'll have
Thanx from Texas ~DavidTx903~
