So, in the aftermath of the December examination period, I decided to do a bit of housekeeping in my tank.
I found a couple of interesting things:
I had a developed a local population of cyclops copepods. At least, I recognized the twin egg sacs the female carries.
I had developed a local population of what I think are mayfly larvae. tiny green, winged flies sometimes emerge every few days in a massive swarm. I believe they spawn tiny, tubificid-like larvae.
I'm not really worried about them at the moment; my neon tetras love to chow down on the larvae, and it seems to have no real effect on the tank, other than a bit of a cosmetic one. In any case, I was wondering if anyone else noticed anything like this happening in their tanks.

With my experience with shrimp the make great pets. But alot of fish love to eat them.
